It would be like trying to repaint the inside of a burning building.
00:00:04
Like, what's the point?
00:00:05
And so you're taking something that's not gonna be utilized because the peptides are gonna be
00:00:09
basically destroyed or invalidated by inflammation, metabolic dysfunction.
00:00:13
So if your body's inflamed, if you're metabolically dysregulated, if you're
00:00:17
hormonally imbalanced, the peptides will be minimally effective at all.
00:00:22
And so that's always where we start as the foundation.
00:00:24
Then when someone's foundationally healthy, and on a fundamental level, genetics are are
00:00:30
included, peptides can be an amazing tool.
00:00:33
Welcome to Health Decoded, your number one source for real health information with your
00:00:38
host, doctor Alessi and Matt Tack.
00:00:44
Welcome back to another episode of Health Decoded.
00:00:48
I am your host, doctor Alessi, and I'm very excited to have you here with me today.
00:00:53
I appreciate, as always, you tuning in and really just taking this time to learn, empower
00:00:59
yourself, to be able to just become a better you and make healthier decisions for yourself
00:01:04
and for your family.
00:01:05
That really is the mission of this.
00:01:07
This podcast is completely free.
00:01:09
We don't ask anything from anyone.
00:01:10
However, we do ask that if this is valuable and you have learned something from the show, share
00:01:16
it with somebody who may need to hear this message and could benefit from this.
00:01:20
And that's just ultimately how we're gonna continue helping people to become better
00:01:24
versions of themselves through natural health.
00:01:27
So that being said, today we're diving into one of the most under misunderstood and honestly,
00:01:33
one of the most powerful tools that we use in functional and longevity medicine.
00:01:39
And this is what we call nutrigenetic testing.
00:01:42
And specifically, our NutriPro genetic blood panel.
00:01:46
And so I really wanna break this down today because if you've ever said, I eat clean, I do
00:01:52
all these healthy things, but I still feel off.
00:01:54
Or I take supplements, but I don't feel a difference.
00:01:58
How do I know if they're working?
00:01:59
Or maybe it's my labs look normal, but I don't feel normal.
00:02:03
I'm doing all the right things.
00:02:05
Why isn't it working?
00:02:07
Well, this episode is for you.
00:02:09
Because what most people don't realize is that nutrition is not universal.
00:02:14
And today I'm gonna walk you through number one, how genetics influence health, do not
00:02:20
control it.
00:02:22
And so, you know, they say that genetics load the gun, but lifestyle pulls the trigger.
00:02:28
And so we can have predispositions towards things, but what we do, diet, nutrition,
00:02:34
exercise or lack thereof, really controls how that gene expression is shown in our health.
00:02:40
We're gonna talk about how the signs that your genes may be interfering despite good habits.
00:02:47
We'll talk about what our NutriPro panel actually tests and why it's so important.
00:02:52
And then how do we use this data to build custom nutraceutical peptide diet and lifestyle
00:02:58
protocols to help people get the best results.
00:03:02
So let's get right into it.
00:03:03
You know, genetics influence health, but they do not control it.
00:03:08
So let's start by clearing up the myth.
00:03:09
Right?
00:03:10
Your genetics are not your destiny.
00:03:12
And if I had a dollar for every time somebody was in my clinic and said, well, you know, it
00:03:15
runs in my family.
00:03:17
Okay, that's it may, right?
00:03:19
It very well may run-in your family, but that doesn't mean it has to determine you being
00:03:23
healthy or not healthy, right?
00:03:24
We don't have to just take that.
00:03:26
So the idea that, you know, it's just in my genes has caused more people to give up more
00:03:32
than anything else that I hear.
00:03:33
And it's because it's almost like this like death sentence that people take.
00:03:37
You know, there's nothing I can do.
00:03:38
It's in my genes.
00:03:39
Your genes are not a life sentence.
00:03:41
They're a blueprint.
00:03:42
And a blueprint doesn't determine whether a building becomes a beautiful home or a
00:03:47
structural disaster, does it?
00:03:48
It really just depends on how it's built, maintained and supported.
00:03:53
And so your genes may influence how efficiently you absorb nutrition, how well you can convert
00:03:58
vitamins into their usable forms, they can control how strong or how weak your detox
00:04:04
pathways are.
00:04:06
Genes can also control your nervous system, hormones and metabolism.
00:04:10
But it does not mean it completely controls it.
00:04:14
They just influence.
00:04:15
And so genes provide instructions.
00:04:17
Your environment then determines the outcome.
00:04:20
And this is where we get into what we call epigenetics or when it comes to nutrition,
00:04:26
nutrigenetics.
00:04:27
And so what is epigenetics in like real world world terms?
00:04:31
Epigenetics is the science of how your lifestyle turns genes on or off.
00:04:37
So your DNA sequence doesn't change, but how strongly certain genes are expressed absolutely
00:04:43
does.
00:04:45
So think of your genes like light switches.
00:04:47
Some are dim, some are bright, some are flipped on constantly, some barely work at all.
00:04:53
And so what controls those switches?
00:04:56
Well, epigenetic inputs like nutrition, sleep quality, stress levels, exposure to toxins on a
00:05:03
daily basis, your physical activity, levels of inflammation.
00:05:07
And this has been demonstrated repeatedly in the scientific literature, including research
00:05:12
published in journals like Nature, Cell, the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, showing
00:05:18
that nutrient availability directly alters gene expression.
00:05:22
So particularly in certain pathways like inflammation and detoxification, your body's
00:05:27
antioxidant defense, how is your body gonna be prepared for infections and and you know,
00:05:31
injury and disease.
00:05:33
And this used to be considered like fringe science, but not anymore.
00:05:38
This is actually foundational biology that's been proven.
00:05:41
And so it's also why the same diet works for one person, but not another.
00:05:46
And so this is where things get interesting and start to make sense for most people is they run
00:05:52
a panel and they understand what their genes are doing.
00:05:54
And so, why can two people eat the same clean diet and have different outcomes?
00:06:00
Why can two people take the same supplements and have different levels in their blood?
00:06:04
And so the completely different results is one person is thriving on these and the other
00:06:09
person is struggling.
00:06:10
And you know, that's really where you can get super detailed with these kind of tests or with
00:06:16
our tests in particular to see why that is happening and why blanket nutrition advice is
00:06:22
ultimately gonna fail.
00:06:24
Because some people are gonna convert beta carotene to vitamin A efficiently and others
00:06:29
will not.
00:06:30
Some people activate vitamin D very easily and others struggle despite high intake.
00:06:36
Some people process B vitamins smoothly where others bottleneck.
00:06:40
And so this is actually something I found out about myself is that I have a low methylation
00:06:45
gene that doesn't allow me to fully process B vitamins.
00:06:49
So I have to just, you know, be aware of that.
00:06:52
I have to support detox regularly.
00:06:54
And I have to take a specific form of B vitamin that my body will actually be able to utilize.
00:07:00
And so it's not that the advice is wrong.
00:07:04
Hey, take some B vitamins.
00:07:05
Hey, eat this healthy.
00:07:06
Right?
00:07:07
Do exercise.
00:07:07
Not that it's wrong.
00:07:08
That's good advice still.
00:07:09
Right?
00:07:10
It's just that it's incomplete.
00:07:11
And maybe it's not 100% specific to you.
00:07:15
And so this is where, again, functional medicine has evolved to be so specific to the
00:07:21
person.
00:07:22
It's not just eat healthier and work out more.
00:07:24
Right?
00:07:24
And so standard supplements sometimes can make people feel worse.
00:07:29
And why is that?
00:07:30
Well, someone will say, hey, doctor, let's see, I took a multivitamin.
00:07:33
It actually made me anxious or B vitamins gave me heart palpitations.
00:07:38
I felt kind of triggered.
00:07:39
I tried supplements and I just felt worse.
00:07:41
And so most practitioners, well, maybe just take less or maybe because it's often not what
00:07:48
they're taking, but it's how their body is processing it.
00:07:51
And so if you have genetic variations in things like methylation, nutrient transport, detox,
00:07:57
antioxidant recycling, you might not convert those vitamins and you might not be able to
00:08:01
tolerate synthetic forms which is what we mostly see from your basic brands, you know,
00:08:08
store bought vitamins and supplements.
00:08:10
So instead of helping now that supplement is becoming another stressor on the system on the
00:08:14
body.
00:08:15
This is why more is then not better, but precision is better.
00:08:19
And so like I said, genetics load the gun, right?
00:08:22
But your lifestyle is what pulls the trigger.
00:08:25
And so one of the most important frameworks to understand is that you can have genetic
00:08:30
predispositions for things like inflammation, heart disease, oxidative stress, nutrient
00:08:35
deficiencies.
00:08:36
But whether or not those predispositions turn into disease, like autoimmunity or metabolic
00:08:42
dysfunction or even hormone imbalance depends on how the system is supported.
00:08:46
It depends on you, depends on the choices you make, and it really depends on whether or not
00:08:51
you care to know to make the right choices.
00:08:54
Because if not, again, you are choosing to just almost live in more of a kinda see what happens
00:09:00
type of state, which no judgment on I my end, it just seems to be not the best way to go
00:09:06
about something.
00:09:07
We would wanna know if our car is actually running on the proper gasoline or if we need to
00:09:12
put in a different kind of oil or oh, I need different tires because it runs better this
00:09:16
way.
00:09:17
Everyone would say, yeah, I want my car to run smoothly.
00:09:19
But what about our bodies?
00:09:21
This is it's more important, you only get one of these.
00:09:24
And so that's the foundation of nutrigenomics, the science of basically matching nutrition and
00:09:29
supplementation to your genetic needs.
00:09:32
And so instead of asking what supplements should people take, we ask what does your
00:09:37
biology actually require?
00:09:39
And this is exactly what the NutraPro panel is designed to uncover.
00:09:44
It's not looking for disease, it's not looking for a diagnosis, but it's it's looking for
00:09:48
efficiency and risk patterns based on your biology and your DNA.
00:09:53
It's gonna help us understand, you know, where your nutrient pathways are strong, maybe where
00:09:58
they're vulnerable, where you need targeted support instead of generic advice.
00:10:02
And this is how we move from guessing to testing and using protocols and personalization
00:10:08
to get rid of the frustration and and really understand what your body needs.
00:10:12
And so as we kind of transition into this next segment where I wanna talk about, you know,
00:10:18
what to look for if possibly your genetics may be working against you, just remember, signs
00:10:24
and symptoms that suggest your genetics may be interfering with your health.
00:10:28
These aren't death sentences.
00:10:30
This is insight and we need to listen to your body Because once you recognize these patterns,
00:10:35
everything starts to click.
00:10:37
So let's get into that.
00:10:38
Okay?
00:10:38
So let's talk about real life now.
00:10:40
I I got a little bit high level there with the science and the backgrounds of nutrigenetics
00:10:45
just so you have an understanding.
00:10:47
Now, let's talk about some of the most common signs that a genetic nutrient pathway may be
00:10:53
impaired.
00:10:54
Even if you're doing everything right, you feel like you've been on a very solid program or
00:10:58
lifestyle or diet and it's still not quite what you want.
00:11:03
So if supplements don't seem to work, this is number one.
00:11:07
Say you take a multivitamin, you're taking magnesium, a B complex vitamin D and nothing's
00:11:12
happening.
00:11:13
It's not often or it's often not a deficiency problem, it's a utilization problem.
00:11:18
So for example, let me break things down here a little bit.
00:11:21
Variations in the gene MTHFR, MTR, or MTTRR can impair methylation, meaning that B vitamins are
00:11:30
not converting efficiently into usable forms within the body.
00:11:34
That process of methylation is very important about your body produces methyl groups and it
00:11:40
attaches them to the B vitamin to then make it where your biology can read that code and
00:11:45
actually utilize If that's not happening, then we're obviously you're gonna have deficiencies
00:11:51
and from those vitamin deficiencies can come the signs and the symptoms, right?
00:11:55
The neuropathies, the pain, the headaches, the irritability, those kind of things.
00:12:00
Another example would be variations in the TCN two or SLC 19 gene.
00:12:07
This affects b 12 and folate transport into the cell.
00:12:11
So the nutrient is present, but the cell can't actually use it.
00:12:16
And so that's where people are like, am I even absorbing these?
00:12:19
Am I even processing these?
00:12:20
And maybe you're just flushing a bunch of money down the toilet because you're taking some
00:12:24
vitamins and supplements that your body doesn't even know what to do with them.
00:12:28
Now, the next part, number two, is, you know, chronic fatigue or brain fog that won't
00:12:36
resolve.
00:12:36
We see this all the time.
00:12:38
So low energy, that's not improving no matter how long you sleep, how much caffeine you drink
00:12:42
during the day, or diet, or exercise, or any of that.
00:12:45
And so this could point towards impaired mitochondrial function, possible antioxidant
00:12:51
overload, pathway overload, or poor detox capacity.
00:12:55
And there's specific genes like SOD two, CAT, and GPX one that play major roles in your
00:13:02
cellular defense against oxidative stress.
00:13:06
Now when these pathways are genetically slower, this is just your your biology, The system
00:13:11
burns out faster.
00:13:13
And so we've seen this time and time again, throwing random vitamins and supplements and
00:13:19
even peptides and doing a lot of these high level really cool things is not getting someone
00:13:24
to that point.
00:13:25
And so we run a test like this and we find out wow, your body's actually not even able to
00:13:31
process this because you're not detoxing at all.
00:13:33
And so it's almost like the system has become like backed up, if you will.
00:13:38
Now, the third thing we see is is mood issues, anxiety.
00:13:41
We talk a lot about, you know, mental health nowadays, and how mental health is very much
00:13:48
connected to our physiological health.
00:13:50
And so gut health is very important for the neurotransmitter production, and it heavily
00:13:56
relies on your body's ability to process folate, b twelve, b six and magnesium.
00:14:02
And so if our bodies, if our gut is dysfunctional or damaged, you know, we're not
00:14:06
gonna be absorbing these vitamins, our DNA is not gonna be working with us, we could have
00:14:10
severe deficiencies.
00:14:12
And so genetic inefficiencies here will often show up as things like anxiety, irritability,
00:14:18
poor tolerance to stress and maybe even like low motivation, Almost like ADHD.
00:14:23
And again, labs can look completely normal.
00:14:26
Blood work looks normal.
00:14:27
You go to your conventional doctor and they say, oh, everything's fine.
00:14:29
It's in your head.
00:14:30
Well, it's not really in your head.
00:14:32
It's in your genes.
00:14:33
And so if you look at the right places, you will uncover what's going on.
00:14:37
Think of I love analogy.
00:14:38
So think of a home, a house, right?
00:14:40
You're you're buying a house or you just bought a house and everything looks beautiful.
00:14:43
I mean, they did a great job on the renovation, all of that.
00:14:46
But for some reason, something smells weird or something's off.
00:14:50
In Florida, if you live in Florida, can understand this because a lot of people deal
00:14:53
with this.
00:14:54
There's something within the walls, possibly some mold, possibly some humidity that has
00:14:58
created mold and that was not found because you didn't look deep enough.
00:15:02
Right?
00:15:03
And so there's a problem.
00:15:04
The house isn't perfect, but if you just look surface level, you will miss that.
00:15:09
And so we have to be able to look deeper to understand where the body needs the most
00:15:14
support.
00:15:16
Now, the fourth thing and and the last part on thing that we look for here usually is like or
00:15:21
you can you can look for is like immune issues, inflammation, or slow recovery.
00:15:26
You're always sick.
00:15:27
You always have that kind of like congestion or tickle in your throat.
00:15:31
Maybe you're inflamed, you feel the body's inflamed and puffy, or you're sore for a long
00:15:37
time after exercise, longer than normal or or you would expect.
00:15:40
Maybe you're really struggling with your gut health, you have a lot of gut related symptoms.
00:15:44
So we find that genes related to vitamin D activation, such as VDR, CYP2R1, GC, and and
00:15:52
glutathione pathways, the GST and GPX genes, often play a role here because the body's
00:15:59
immune system is fundamentally ineffective.
00:16:03
You know, you can take all the things in the world.
00:16:05
Oh, I take the manuka honey and the elderberry and I'm on vitamin c five thousand milligrams.
00:16:10
I'm doing all these things.
00:16:11
But if again, that vitamin D activator gene is not working, wasted time, wasted money, wasted
00:16:18
effort.
00:16:18
Right?
00:16:19
And not that it's completely wasted.
00:16:20
Again, maybe you're getting a percentage of that 20%.
00:16:23
But to be the most effective, which I'm sure most people listening to this show could agree
00:16:29
is better, we need to know what the body's actually doing.
00:16:33
And so this is where, you know, most people finally realize like, oh, it's not it's not
00:16:38
that I'm failing.
00:16:39
My body just needs different input.
00:16:41
And I'll tell you, you know, personal story on my account, like so many things changed when I
00:16:46
did this test on myself.
00:16:47
Because I used to do all, I mean, if you know me, I do all the right things.
00:16:50
I'm exercising all the time, making sure I'm recovering, stress management, you know,
00:16:55
meditation, therapy, doing it all.
00:16:57
And still there was like a piece, I'm like, I don't even know if I'm if I'm even healthy
00:17:02
right now, feel something's off.
00:17:03
I ran this panel, and I found that, okay, methylation, my body doesn't methylate B
00:17:08
vitamins, detox capacity is reduced or is, you know, biologically slower, and so I need to
00:17:16
support that on a regular basis, quarterly detoxes throughout my life.
00:17:19
And then how do I optimize other things?
00:17:23
And so it gave me insight into the best time of day for me to actually work out, and it's not
00:17:29
in the morning, which I used to do.
00:17:30
I used to work out first thing in the morning, this would almost like spike my cortisol too
00:17:34
high, and then the rest of the day I would almost be like ineffective versus based on my
00:17:40
biology and my DNA.
00:17:41
Better time for me to exercise more like middle of the day, once I've had some carbohydrates
00:17:44
and had some food.
00:17:46
The best time for me to get my mental work done and focus work done is like right now I'm
00:17:50
filming this podcast at 06:30 in the morning.
00:17:53
And so that's where my brain is just operating at its best and when my body is gonna support.
00:17:58
So knowing these things helps us to then not just affect nutrition, now we're talking
00:18:03
epigenetics like lifestyle.
00:18:05
And that's where it's really cool.
00:18:06
A lot of people, when they find those things out, they're like, man, that makes so much
00:18:10
sense.
00:18:10
I need eight hours of sleep.
00:18:12
Or maybe you're one of those people that needs like four hours of sleep.
00:18:15
It just it was really dependent on your DNA.
00:18:18
So now let's talk about what the NutriPro Panel tests and why.
00:18:22
Because okay, it's cool to know, but why is that important and how how do we apply that?
00:18:27
So let's talk about the test itself.
00:18:29
The NutraPro panel is a genetic based nutrition and lifestyle assessment test using a simple
00:18:35
cheek swab that you can do at home.
00:18:37
No needles, no fasting, no stress really.
00:18:40
And it analyzes genetic markers involved in what we talked about nutrient absorption,
00:18:46
nutrient metabolism, detox pathways, antioxidant defense, and fatty acid conversion.
00:18:52
The key genetic categories that we're testing are methylation pathways.
00:18:57
This is MTHFR, MTR, MTTRR.
00:19:01
So these genes influence folate and b 12 metabolism, detoxification, neurotransmitter
00:19:08
production, and cardiovascular health.
00:19:11
This is one of the most clinically impactful areas that we see and can make dramatic change
00:19:16
with our patients, particularly maybe patients who are having slow healing times or slow
00:19:22
recovery or neuropathy that won't go away.
00:19:25
We find that limits in these methylation pathways is really the biggest needle that we
00:19:31
can turn to override that.
00:19:34
The next one is the vitamin d pathway.
00:19:36
So VDR, CYP two r one, and GC, these determine how vitamin d is activated, how it's
00:19:43
transported, how cells respond to it, and this directly impacts your immune health, your bone
00:19:48
density, and inflammation.
00:19:51
Antioxidant and detox pathways, we test these through the SLC 23 a one, GSTT one, GPX one,
00:20:00
SOD two, CAT, NQO one.
00:20:04
And so these genes govern vitamin c transport, glutathione production, which is our body's
00:20:10
master antioxidant, as well as cellular protection from oxidative stress.
00:20:16
This is huge for people with chronic inflammation, exposure to toxins, whether
00:20:22
that's environmental, mold, really anything, aging, and recovery.
00:20:27
So for longevity, how can we optimize the function of this gene?
00:20:31
Now, fatty acid and choline metabolism.
00:20:34
So we're checking the f a d s one and the PEMT gene.
00:20:38
These affect omega three conversion, brain health and inflammation balance.
00:20:44
And so again, this is gonna explain why some people don't respond well to fish oil
00:20:49
supplementation or an anti inflammatory diet.
00:20:52
Right?
00:20:52
And so the NeutroPro panel doesn't just diagnose disease.
00:20:57
It identifies risk patterns and inefficiencies allowing us to intervene before breakdown even
00:21:02
occurs.
00:21:03
And so I use an analogy that I said the other day that kind of took Matt by surprise and he
00:21:09
was like, wow, that's actually really good.
00:21:10
And I was like, yeah, it actually kinda made sense and I made it up.
00:21:13
But if you're walking down the road with a friend, your significant other, whoever, and
00:21:18
there's a puddle in front of you, does it make more sense to say, hey, watch out for that
00:21:22
puddle and then have them walk around it?
00:21:25
Or will you just let them walk through the puddle and then offer to dry their shoes or
00:21:29
clean their shoes after?
00:21:30
I think every sane person would say it makes more sense to say, hey, watch out for that
00:21:34
puddle and just avoid it.
00:21:35
And that's what we're talking about here.
00:21:37
How can we watch out for and avoid damage, inflammation, disease before it even becomes a
00:21:43
problem?
00:21:44
And we're doing that all the time.
00:21:47
So, you know, how do we then implement this data?
00:21:50
We just learned all these things about your genetics and your nutrigenetic, you know,
00:21:54
profile, how your body responds to things.
00:21:56
This is where everything comes together.
00:21:58
Because testing without action is cool, but it's actually useless.
00:22:01
And so here's how we apply the NutraPro results clinically.
00:22:04
We do this all the time at Ascend Functional Health and it's actually a big staple in most
00:22:12
of our testing protocols to get the optimal results.
00:22:15
And so we use custom nutraceutical formulations.
00:22:18
And so we're gonna select them based on the correct form of the vitamin or or nutrient, the
00:22:23
correct dosage for your body based on your genetics, and the correct combinations.
00:22:29
So for example, methylated versus non methylated B vitamins, active folate versus
00:22:35
folic acid, which is actually a synthetic version that can sometimes if you have an issue
00:22:41
block your body from using folate.
00:22:44
And so if you're taking folic acid with a MTHFR mutation, you're actually gonna make the
00:22:49
problem worse.
00:22:50
And then specific antioxidant blends for glutathione support.
00:22:53
So there's no more guessing.
00:22:55
You're taking the right stuff.
00:22:56
Now, targeted supplementation timing, that's the next piece we we work on.
00:23:01
We adjust is it better morning versus evening?
00:23:05
Should you take things in synergy?
00:23:07
Take this with this or take these apart from each other because they're gonna interfere.
00:23:12
What we call like nutrient competition.
00:23:15
This will dramatically improve the effectiveness.
00:23:18
And so then for patients with poor recovery, inflammation, maybe higher levels of
00:23:23
mitochondrial stress, peptide therapy.
00:23:26
And so we can integrate peptides that support cellular repair and signaling.
00:23:30
We always guide these by genetics and labs, we're never just randomly giving people
00:23:34
peptides.
00:23:35
And here's a quick sidebar is that a lot of people have heard of peptides and we're very
00:23:41
familiar with them.
00:23:41
We talked about these on a previous episode, you can go back a couple episodes and listen if
00:23:45
you're not familiar with peptides, but it's a very popular word nowadays, everyone's talking
00:23:49
about peptides.
00:23:50
However, what they're not talking about is do they actually work if your body is
00:23:55
dysfunctional?
00:23:56
And the truth is they don't, they're limited.
00:23:58
And so, you know, it would be like trying to repaint the inside of a burning building.
00:24:05
Like, what's the point?
00:24:06
So you're taking something that's not going to be utilized because the peptides are going to
00:24:10
be basically destroyed or invalidated by inflammation, metabolic dysfunction.
00:24:15
So if your body's inflamed, if you're metabolically dysregulated, if you're
00:24:18
hormonally imbalanced, the peptides will be minimally effective at all.
00:24:23
And so that's always where we start as the foundation, by the way.
00:24:26
Then when someone's foundationally healthy and on a fundamental level, genetics are are
00:24:32
included, Peptides can be an amazing tool.
00:24:35
It's like a Swiss army knife.
00:24:36
You can turn things on and off.
00:24:37
And so definitely something really cool that we've implemented.
00:24:41
And then diet personalization.
00:24:44
And so we will adjust fat ratios based on the FADS gene, protein tolerance, protein timing,
00:24:50
micronutrient density, meal timing, caffeine.
00:24:54
Some people need more choline, right?
00:24:56
And so more antioxidants.
00:24:58
Some people need to reduce their oxidative load, so they need actually detoxify.
00:25:03
And then lifestyle and stress modulation, right?
00:25:05
This is probably the biggest thing because this is free, you can just do this, right?
00:25:10
But optimizing sleep, how do we optimize the nervous system and regulate it, right?
00:25:15
With certain things like vagus nerve stimulation through humming, chanting, deep
00:25:22
breathing, and then exercise volume adjustments, making sure the dose matches the
00:25:27
goals.
00:25:28
I found for myself that working out five to six days a week was actually more than my body
00:25:33
really needed.
00:25:34
And I got better results from three days a week full body than daily split routine training.
00:25:41
And again, that's me.
00:25:42
It doesn't mean that's you, but because a genetically sensitive system really needs that
00:25:47
precision and not just more.
00:25:49
Right?
00:25:49
It's not more.
00:25:50
And so, you know, in in wrapping up here, I hope this was helpful, and I hope this provided
00:25:56
some some cool insight for people because these are some of the newer things that are available
00:26:00
nowadays that a lot of people are not familiar with.
00:26:02
But if you've ever felt frustrated that your health hasn't responded the way that it should,
00:26:07
this could be that missing layer because the NutraPro panel helps us move from that generic
00:26:12
advice to personalized, from guessing towards precision and really from frustration to
00:26:18
clarity.
00:26:19
Really knowing how to tweak and fine tune the things on a on a deep genetic cellular level
00:26:25
because your body's not broken.
00:26:27
It just speaks a language and most systems never bother to really translate that language.
00:26:32
And that's exactly what we do at Ascend Functional Health.
