00:00:00
We are living in a world of people silently suffering.

00:00:05
People like me looking on the outside but struggling on the inside.

00:00:10
People who don't even realize that there's an there's a better way.

00:00:14
So functional medicine gave me a new lease on life.

00:00:18
Welcome to Health Decode, your number one source for real health information with your

00:00:23
host, doctor Alessi and Matt Tack.

00:00:27
Hey, everybody.

00:00:28
Welcome to the Health Decoded podcast where your host, Matt Tack, is gonna run solo today.

00:00:36
So I have a very exciting story to tell you today, my journey.

00:00:43
So what's up, everyone?

00:00:44
Welcome back to the show.

00:00:46
Today's episode is gonna just gonna be raw, real, and probably the most important one I've

00:00:52
personally done yet.

00:00:53
So I wanna take you on a journey, my journey into functional medicine, into healing and

00:00:59
discovering what it actually means to look good, feel good, and play good.

00:01:04
And not just physically, but mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

00:01:09
So ultimately, how that journey led me to become a partner at Alessi Functional Health.

00:01:14
I know that a lot of people come into the clinic and they're like, who's that tall guy

00:01:19
that, comes in here like he owns the place?

00:01:21
Well, that's me.

00:01:22
I handle a lot of the business activities on the backside, the marketing activities for

00:01:26
Alessi functional health.

00:01:28
And then I step in where I need to be.

00:01:30
So that is me, but let's let's back up a little bit.

00:01:35
And I wanna tell you a little bit about why this all came about.

00:01:40
So there was a time not long ago where I just felt off.

00:01:44
I felt off.

00:01:44
Like, I was driving a high performance car with the parking brake halfway on.

00:01:48
And if anyone of you ever seen me, I'm I always try to stay relatively fit.

00:01:53
I try to look good.

00:01:55
But at the same time, I was off.

00:01:56
So this is roughly around two years ago, I had brain fog.

00:02:00
I was depressed.

00:02:01
I had just no spark, no edge at the end of the day.

00:02:05
I was working out, I looked like I had it all together, but on paper, I should've felt great.

00:02:12
But something just wasn't clicking.

00:02:15
And here's the thing, at the same time I had a nutritional brand, I was even hosting the Full

00:02:20
Field podcast about health and wellness, yet something was off.

00:02:25
I was preaching something I actually probably wasn't living by because I like, I didn't feel

00:02:30
great.

00:02:31
And that really hit hard.

00:02:33
So here came the shift.

00:02:35
There came a moment, and I remember it clearly, where I just said like, enough is enough.

00:02:40
I gotta get I gotta figure this thing out.

00:02:44
And so I was done pretending that everything was just gonna be fine.

00:02:48
Done living in a body that wasn't absolutely firing on all cylinders, and really honestly,

00:02:54
giving other people advice necessarily I wasn't following.

00:02:57
Like, I wanted to feel optimized.

00:03:00
So I leaned in.

00:03:02
And leaning in that leaning in started with me becoming one of the first educational patient

00:03:11
patients at for functional medicine purposes, at Alessi Functional Health.

00:03:16
And what it did was chronicle that beta chronicled what somebody like me just wants to

00:03:23
educate themselves.

00:03:25
I wanted to educate them myself on, hey, why is my body feeling like this?

00:03:29
What do I need?

00:03:30
I don't just wanna be told, but I wanna learn.

00:03:32
I wanna be more curious about this body that God has given me.

00:03:37
So what do we do?

00:03:38
We started with blood work.

00:03:40
And not just any blood work.

00:03:42
Real, deep, biometric, lab based results.

00:03:47
Not the basic stuff that you're getting that you're gonna get to your annual physical that

00:03:51
they're gonna check off and they're gonna put you in this range of people that might be 80

00:03:54
years old and 20 years old, right?

00:03:57
I wanna know about me.

00:03:58
And so the uniqueness of me.

00:04:00
So I uncovered the hormonal imbalances, the nutrient deficiencies, the inflammation that

00:04:05
was going on in my body that I had no idea was there.

00:04:09
Things traditional medicine never flags.

00:04:12
So I got nerdy about it.

00:04:14
I dove into the data.

00:04:16
I wanted to understand my body at the cellular level, the plan.

00:04:22
So what do we do?

00:04:24
We got into the boardroom, targeted supplementation, lifestyle changes, and yes,

00:04:30
TRT.

00:04:31
I was advised to get on testosterone replacement therapy.

00:04:35
The labs confirmed that I was deficient and low, and so I need to get on TRT.

00:04:41
It wasn't a magic pill, but it was the spark that I needed to take control.

00:04:47
So here's the process of what two years look like.

00:04:51
Fast forward, the transformation of it all.

00:04:55
Fast forward two years, my life looks completely different.

00:04:58
Right?

00:04:59
Remove the brain fog.

00:05:01
That probably took about anywhere from three to four months where the brain fog was almost

00:05:05
completely gone.

00:05:06
My mood my mood rebalanced.

00:05:09
I was I had more of a cadence.

00:05:11
I wasn't as irritable.

00:05:12
I didn't have as much anxiety.

00:05:14
I was still working out, but through micro supplementation, through hormone replacement

00:05:20
therapy and other things that I added on, through the functional medicine approach, man,

00:05:25
I felt good.

00:05:26
I was more alert, right?

00:05:28
My central nervous system was just clicking on all cylinders.

00:05:31
I had more energy through the roof, right?

00:05:34
That 03:00 window of I was just dying and I was just wanting to go to sleep and on my couch or

00:05:40
in my bed, that was gone.

00:05:42
I have energy.

00:05:43
Right?

00:05:44
I was working out in the mornings, and I was able to sustain that energy throughout the rest

00:05:47
of the day.

00:05:48
I'm like, this is crazy.

00:05:50
My focus my focus became sharper.

00:05:52
I I wouldn't even be able to do a podcast like this and stay clearly focused throughout the

00:05:57
entire process.

00:05:59
And more importantly, I'm not just surviving anymore.

00:06:04
I'm thriving.

00:06:06
I'm playing good at the game of life.

00:06:09
Right?

00:06:09
That's where my motto comes into play.

00:06:11
Look good, feel good, play good.

00:06:13
Right?

00:06:13
Everyone wants to look good so they become more confident, but you wanna feel good.

00:06:18
You have to feel good in order to play the game good.

00:06:22
And the game we call the game of life.

00:06:25
And so that was big for me.

00:06:27
That transformation, what it did for me physically, mentally, and spiritually is why I

00:06:33
made the decision to invest into a less functional health.

00:06:37
I just don't wanna be a patient anymore.

00:06:40
I wanted to be part of the mission and the vision behind it.

00:06:45
So that is ultimately why I became a partner.

00:06:49
And here's what I saw.

00:06:50
We are living in a world of people silently suffering.

00:06:56
People like me looking on the outside, but struggling on the inside.

00:07:01
People who don't even realize that there's an there's a better way.

00:07:05
So functional medicine gave me a new lease on life, and I believe it can do the same for you

00:07:12
and absolutely millions of others.

00:07:15
So now I'm not just living it, I'm building it.

00:07:20
Alessi Functional Health isn't just a clinic, it's a movement that's going to change lives.

00:07:27
So here's some key takeaways that we always love to do in this podcast.

00:07:31
Let me leave you just with a few of my personal journey.

00:07:35
Looking fit doesn't mean you're healthy.

00:07:38
So don't be fooled by the mirror.

00:07:41
It's what's on the inside.

00:07:42
If you feel off, trust your gut.

00:07:45
You know your body than you know your body better than anyone, So trust it.

00:07:50
Number three, functional medicine works if you work it.

00:07:56
It's personalized, holistic, and rooted in why things are happening, not just what.

00:08:03
Right?

00:08:03
Number four, invest in yourself.

00:08:06
So many people treat their, their bodies like cars.

00:08:11
They hear the ticks, and they're like, I'll get to that later.

00:08:14
But the reality is we only get one of these.

00:08:16
So invest in yourself because nothing else works if your body and your mind don't.

00:08:22
And number five, live by a code.

00:08:25
For me, it's look good, feel good, play good, not just in fitness, but in the game of life.

00:08:32
So that's my story from struggling silently to becoming a patient and now a partner.

00:08:38
It's something that truly changed my life.

00:08:41
If you're feeling stuck, foggy, or just something's off, lean in, start asking

00:08:46
questions.

00:08:47
And maybe, just maybe, consider what functional medicine could do for you.
