00:00:00
We're live.

00:00:01
Welcome, Eddie Ice.

00:00:02
What's up, man, brother?

00:00:03
Brother.

00:00:04
Good to do.

00:00:05
What's going on?

00:00:05
So the, episode

00:00:08
Number 1, the full fuel podcast.

00:00:11
Dude, I'm so excited about this.

00:00:12
It's so exciting that long time coming.

00:00:15
Yeah, man.

00:00:15
We just been planning

00:00:16
it out.

00:00:16
We're like, let's ticket now.

00:00:18
So we got Blake behind the scenes.

00:00:20
We got Austin.

00:00:20
I love I love what's going on here.

00:00:23
Dude.

00:00:24
Dude, the vibe to set up everything.

00:00:26
Dude, it's perfect right But, let's dive in a little bit.

00:00:30
Tell, you know, tell the

00:00:31
people who you are, and then I'll go next.

00:00:33
Yeah.

00:00:33
So my name's Doctor Opper Lessi.

00:00:35
I am a chiropractor, functional medicine doctor, and integrated health practitioners,

00:00:40
like the stuff that I don't know today.

00:00:41
It's something I work on at.

00:00:42
And, Essentially, what all that means is I help people get to the cause of health issues.

00:00:48
Right?

00:00:49
And that's kind of the the a lot of the background of this podcast.

00:00:52
Yeah.

00:00:52
You and I resonate heavily on the on the same side of let's not just survive.

00:00:58
Right?

00:00:58
Let's not just get through my and scrape through your days, which I've been there.

00:01:02
I've been, I've lived that life.

00:01:03
100%.

00:01:04
This is kinda like not very fulfilling.

00:01:07
It's not very fulfilling.

00:01:09
Right?

00:01:09
Feel again.

00:01:10
I'm back to the name of

00:01:11
this show.

00:01:12
Right?

00:01:12
But but honestly, man, like, that's that's the whole purpose of yours.

00:01:15
Like, how do we help people take even little steps, man, baby steps towards optimizing

00:01:21
themselves, their their family, their health, their career all day.

00:01:25
Right?

00:01:26
Yeah.

00:01:26
Touch on all that stuff, I believe.

00:01:27
So

00:01:28
how'd you become a chiropractor?

00:01:30
How'd you not a chiropractor, man.

00:01:31
I'm, like, talking you down already, dude.

00:01:33
You're more than that.

00:01:34
Yeah.

00:01:35
Obviously, but that's

00:01:36
where my my license is.

00:01:38
Right?

00:01:38
But, yeah, man, it was, I started as a personal trainer, right?

00:01:42
So I, in college, was where it was steady excess science, personal training, and I loved

00:01:47
it.

00:01:47
Honestly, he was a good fit for me because I've only been happy for a whole So, yeah.

00:01:52
Played college across at, UCF, was was personal training, and then really the shift was I had

00:01:59
an injury.

00:02:00
So I separated my shoulder, grade 5 separation.

00:02:03
Basically, every ligament that holds your shoulder together is just is gone toward

00:02:08
shredded.

00:02:09
Yeah.

00:02:09
The only thing that didn't happen was my clavicle didn't come out of the skin, so that

00:02:12
was cool.

00:02:13
But other than that, it was gone.

00:02:14
So, you know, I went to the hospital and they were basically like, you could have surgery

00:02:19
and, you know, operate function again.

00:02:21
Yeah.

00:02:21
If you elect to not have surgery, you'd probably never use it.

00:02:24
I was like, well, I kinda wanna be able to use the arm.

00:02:26
Yeah.

00:02:27
It's pretty important.

00:02:28
Yeah.

00:02:28
So, yeah, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna not do that.

00:02:32
So, yeah, so they had surgery and and really, man, the surgery went well, but there were just

00:02:36
like lingering issues, pain, developed arthritis, nerve pain, and I'd go to the doc

00:02:42
and they were kinda like, is just gonna be part of what it is.

00:02:46
Yeah.

00:02:47
You can deal with that.

00:02:48
I don't know why, like, I couldn't accept that.

00:02:50
Like, I don't that sucks.

00:02:51
Like, I don't, you know, I don't wanna take that as, like, the, the the end all.

00:02:55
Right?

00:02:56
Yeah.

00:02:56
So had a friend who was in chiropractic school, and he was like, man, you should you should go

00:03:00
see a chiropractor.

00:03:00
So I went and saw a guy.

00:03:02
We did laser, which I nothing.

00:03:03
I mean, nothing about the last 4 lasers.

00:03:05
It's like a hot laser.

00:03:06
There's different levels of laser obviously, but, did laser, like, for an hour.

00:03:10
I was just as soon as off laser in the background.

00:03:13
And then he would adjust me.

00:03:14
He would obviously get, we did some functional neurology.

00:03:17
So he's like resetting the way the muscles in the brain.

00:03:20
I love to interact Yeah.

00:03:21
Right?

00:03:21
So you every muscle has alpha motor neurons that are directly back to your your brain.

00:03:25
Your brain is able to tell you when to move muscle, right, the system doesn't happen

00:03:29
automatically.

00:03:29
Yeah.

00:03:30
But that connection gets disrupted when there's injury or when there's swelling, right, and

00:03:34
things like that.

00:03:34
Right?

00:03:35
So, like, retraining how the, the shoulder girdle it actually operates and meant pain

00:03:40
free, like, within 2 months of doing those treatments.

00:03:40
And I was like, So this guy's on to something.

00:03:47
And so for me, that kind of sparked like, yeah, I should look into this and, and see what it's

00:03:52
all about.

00:03:52
So I enrolled, got in chiropractor school, I was originally gonna be a PT school.

00:03:56
I wanna see a PT.

00:03:58
So glad I did that.

00:03:59
Nothing against PTs, man.

00:04:00
I just I for where my my personality and the way I I things that come back inside perfectly

00:04:05
good.

00:04:06
Dude, that is, like, that is the point.

00:04:10
I'm like, this podcast right there.

00:04:12
Is knowing, like, now knowing that, that story behind it.

00:04:16
And then we're gonna get, like, all sorts of nerdy, just like you just for a second on,

00:04:22
understanding kind of that that association between, how you can get to the root cause and

00:04:28
really live pain free, kind of no matter where you're at.

00:04:32
Right?

00:04:33
I I I truly believe

00:04:34
it doesn't even matter what age you're at.

00:04:35
Yeah.

00:04:36
If you make a decision, you could be done pain free.

00:04:38
You just gotta identify what the root cause is.

00:04:41
You did that.

00:04:42
Obviously, you've now made it a career.

00:04:44
And, now we're hosting this podcast to help people, you know, what amazing things.

00:04:48
I'm at tech,

00:04:50
yeah, talk about yourself, bro.

00:04:51
Dude, I, you know, for for me, little bit little bit less of a crazy journey.

00:04:58
But one of the things that, like, resonates what you're saying is that you've always been

00:05:03
an athlete.

00:05:04
For me, I thought that I had to give up on my athlete.

00:05:07
Right?

00:05:08
I I considered myself a failed athlete after high school.

00:05:12
I, I was getting looks, but did get the quality looks that I wanted, in terms of scholarship

00:05:18
offers.

00:05:18
I was planning on playing bass ball.

00:05:20
My whole goal through that was to play Division 1 basketball and, didn't get offers from

00:05:25
Division 1 Schools was getting looked at.

00:05:27
But didn't get the the official offers.

00:05:29
And, like, so I wanted to do this, like, pity fest and was like, screw basketball.

00:05:34
It's all on my coaches.

00:05:35
And, then led me to Oakland University, which, you know, to be honest with you, I freaking

00:05:41
dominated it.

00:05:44
It's, like, double digits of those sports.

00:05:46
I was like, so you know what's funny about that?

00:05:48
This is, like, hilarious, but, my dad got in it into.

00:05:53
I'm going off on a rabbit, chasing a rabbit right now, but, this all, I'm sure happened

00:05:59
often, by the way.

00:06:00
But the, my dad got inducted in the basketball hall of fame, which is part of the reason why I

00:06:06
wanted to play division 1 My dad went to the university in North Dakota.

00:06:09
He's a 2 sport athlete.

00:06:10
Not a star, but just like, he was he was the guy.

00:06:13
And, his basketball team got deducted in the hall of fame.

00:06:17

00:06:18
And it actually just came up on my Facebook feed that it got inducted.

00:06:22
He got, like, the the memory popped up.

00:06:24
So, anyways, I fly out to North Dakota.

00:06:26
He's getting inducted in the hall of fame.

00:06:29
And, his team is they go up on the stage.

00:06:31
It's a really, really cool weekend.

00:06:33
And I'm like, dad, you'll have to come back to Oakland when I get ducked at the intramural.

00:06:39
He's like, you.

00:06:42
So Anyways, I blamed it at, you know, I just blamed his blame game, like, after high school,

00:06:48
went through college, still, like, lifted weights and did all these other things.

00:06:53
And, man, I'm so grateful I went went through that season.

00:06:56
I wouldn't wanna go back to it, but, like, I wouldn't say my mind say my my mindset was

00:07:01
good, but it also led me into this, this, like, kind of, like, area of depression of, like,

00:07:10
man, I'll I'll never be able to play sports again.

00:07:12
Now it's, like, work.

00:07:13
Right?

00:07:13
Right.

00:07:14
And, it's over.

00:07:16
Path.

00:07:16
It's over my my my my best best days behind me.

00:07:20
And, man, over the course, you know, speed it up.

00:07:24
I you know, went through, say their depression in my mid twenties of just like thinking, you

00:07:28
know, my best, you know, my best days are gone.

00:07:31
And, you know, I I really don't have anything really to, but look forward to.

00:07:36
And then, honestly, Ben, we resonate on a faith component.

00:07:40
God just really got hold of my heart, and I'm twenties.

00:07:43
And he's like, look, man.

00:07:45
Get it together.

00:07:46
So, like, my my testimony really is I went into the celebrate recovery program, and I thought

00:07:52
it was for drug addicts.

00:07:53
I'm like, I don't need this.

00:07:54
You know?

00:07:56
But I had a deteriorating headspace.

00:07:57
I just honestly got married And then, came out of that with, honestly, where I'm in that now

00:08:06
today.

00:08:07
I had one mission in life, and that was to empower and encourage.

00:08:09
And he said, I had to empower and encourage my wife.

00:08:13
You know?

00:08:13
That was the first thing that I had to do because at that point, when I wanted to divorce

00:08:17
my wife, And I can stand sit here.

00:08:22
And on this podcast, say, like, 12 years later, coming up on 12 years of marriage that, I'm

00:08:28
abundantly blessed, that it is like, been an amazing, amazing journey.

00:08:35
And, you know, faith is a really big component in my life.

00:08:39
But through this process, has become of, like, I'm still an athlete.

00:08:45
Yeah.

00:08:46
And, I don't have to give up on my athlete, and I can bring things into my life that allow me

00:08:53
to be a dominant physical individual.

00:08:57
Yeah.

00:08:57
And, over the course of, I would say the better part of 5, 6 years, I've gotten to the root

00:09:03
cause of maybe, you know, some lingering, like, knee issues and various things.

00:09:07
And I'm like, do I have to accept the aging process, or do I not accept that and live like,

00:09:16
through with a lot of vitality, the remainder of my days.

00:09:20
And so, dude, that that's my, that's where I'm here.

00:09:23
I'm not a doctor, but, but I sure have done a lot of research.

00:09:27
And, obviously, started now a company called nutritious, where it's basically we wanna get

00:09:33
to some of these root causes, and I empower people to be the absolute most dominant version

00:09:38
of themselves.

00:09:40
So super excited about that, man.

00:09:42
Yeah.

00:09:43
Yeah, kinda expounding on that, man.

00:09:44
It's like, you can't accept that if you wanna do that.

00:09:46
Just gonna age.

00:09:47
You're gonna get old.

00:09:48
You're, you know, you can totally that

00:09:50
can be your mindset.

00:09:51
Uh-huh.

00:09:51
But then that's, you know, you're gonna live a pretty more, you can say, Hey, what can I do to

00:09:58
delay that and ultimately push that aging, process off?

00:10:03
Right.

00:10:03
And there's so much we can do.

00:10:04
I mean, that's wow.

00:10:06
Wanna segue.

00:10:07
This is naturally gonna organically become when I talk about how we're gonna leg layout the

00:10:11
show.

00:10:11
Yeah.

00:10:12
They're gonna touch on what we call, like, the 6 pillars of optimization and performance and

00:10:17
longevity.

00:10:17
Right?

00:10:18
Yeah.

00:10:18
That being the fuel, you put in through body to augment your work, right, like what what, you

00:10:23
deliver purpose into spirit.

00:10:25
There's a spiritual component there as well.

00:10:29
I don't make that even make sure let's do it, man.

00:10:32
Yeah.

00:10:32
As well as the physical.

00:10:38
Yeah.

00:10:38
We touched on that.

00:10:40
Your mind and your and your sleep.

00:10:41
Right?

00:10:41
Because those are the 2 big ones.

00:10:43
If you're not sleeping, man, You know what that does, everyone?

00:10:46
I'm, yeah, I'm so excited to actually go over that season.

00:10:49
Yeah.

00:10:50
Obviously, just the hormonal balances and people.

00:10:52
How long are people don't understand the chemicals.

00:10:55
Right.

00:10:56
The chemical reactions that sleep is the narrative of that kind of sets the baseline.

00:10:59
So I'm super excited about that.

00:11:01
Yeah.

00:11:01
And so, you know, I I with the show.

00:11:02
What we're gonna do is we're gonna break into seasons.

00:11:04
And I'd love to, like, expound on each one of those topics over a few episodes, right, get

00:11:08
into some nitty gritty stuff, touch on different points.

00:11:12
Bring in some people.

00:11:13
Yeah.

00:11:13
Yeah.

00:11:13
I know you know people, letter leaders in the fields, and as well as myself.

00:11:18
So bringing in guests and interviewing and just human human entertaining management.

00:11:23
Yeah.

00:11:23
We're doing a certain people, obviously, but, not putting love it.

00:11:28
And then what we're gonna do so setting expectations for the show, we're gonna do about

00:11:31
3 up so it's per season,

00:11:35
but we might go a

00:11:36
little bit longer if it's a little bit more in-depth of how how we wanna do it.

00:11:40
So we'll let you guys know how how long we're gonna go with the seasons and as far as per

00:11:45
episode, because we might do 4 or 5.

00:11:48
Let's say if sleep does take us in a direction where we wanna dig a little bit deeper.

00:11:52
We bring some people on.

00:11:53
Yeah.

00:11:53
We can always go a little bit longer.

00:11:55
And then and then, what we're going to do, we have a few questions from, you know, from

00:12:01
audience today, but we're gonna end every episode with audience questions that we can

00:12:06
answer, yep, to the best of our knowledge.

00:12:09
And then if we have to bring in some other expertise at a higher level that we can tap

00:12:13
into, we sure can certainly can do that, you know, because one of the, you know, most

00:12:17
important things about life is obviously curiosity and being able to say, actually don't

00:12:21
know the answer to that question.

00:12:22
Yeah.

00:12:22
And, and then being able to find it out.

00:12:25
And that's why I enjoy most about life is just, tapping into new questions that I don't know.

00:12:30
That lead to new answers and, cultivating new mindset.

00:12:33
So, yeah.

00:12:34
Alright.

00:12:34
That that's, I think a wrap for intro.

00:12:37
Number 1, a full field.

00:12:39
You got anything else, brother?

00:12:41
Yeah.

00:12:41
I mean, I'm not sure we can always cut this part out, but, like, we could roll right into

00:12:45
what we're gonna talked about for our perception.

00:12:47
I mean, just go right into it.

00:12:50
What

00:12:51
do you think, Blake?

00:12:58
Yeah.

00:12:58
Yeah.

00:12:58
Let's just do the pilot.

00:12:59
Cut it there.

00:13:01
That could actually be all it.

00:13:04
Don't cut any of that.

00:13:05
Right?

00:13:05
I look

00:13:07
Super transparent.

00:13:08
I'm excited, man.

00:13:09
So, yeah, I think, I think that the trajectory of what we're gonna talk about gonna help a lot

00:13:14
of people.

00:13:15
Right?

00:13:15
Yeah.

00:13:15
A lot of the stuff, man, it's it sounds like maybe common knowledge.

00:13:18
Like, everyone knows I need to see.

00:13:19
Everyone knows we need to eat help.

00:13:21
Be, like, but do you.

00:13:22
Right?

00:13:22
But what does that look like?

00:13:24
Right?

00:13:24
So many people are out there, man.

00:13:25
Just could grab a hold before we wrap up, but,

00:13:28
This is, alright, is this on air?

00:13:30
Like, are we on air right now?

00:13:31
Yeah.

00:13:31
Let's do

00:13:32
it on air.

00:13:32
Let's go let's keep going.

00:13:33
Yeah.

00:13:33
I mean, just like people thinking that what they're eating is healthy.

00:13:36

00:13:41
trying to make money.

00:13:42
Yeah.

00:13:42

00:13:43
They put organic on the label.

00:13:44
They put super food on it, but that where is that coming from?

00:13:48
Right?

00:13:48

00:14:05
it's gonna inflame my body.

00:14:06
Right?

00:14:06
So it caused me to have gut issues and stuff like that.

00:14:09
Yeah.

00:14:09
So knowing really what your body responds to.

00:14:11
